Terminal Offline Hardware Side
Problem:
One or all Terminals are saying "Offline" over at the bottom left corner. Note if just a single or a few terminals offline work on the Ethernet cables but if all terminals offline likely issue with networking equipment over at the back office. Could be the firewall, internet modem, or POS switch.
Solution:
1.) Open the back of the register by pressing the two tabs (picture below) this will reveal all the ports and cables at the top. Look for only one main Ethernet/network cable (can be different colors).
2.) Check if network port lights blinking like the picture below.
3.) If not blinking unplug Ethernet cable from the register and other end from the wall network port (if other end goes up into ceiling unplug just from the register) and plug back in. Note lights can still rarely sometimes mean a bad cable connection dropping/poor. If lights show but still offline try replacing with a spare or swapping out with another register Ethernet cable.
4.) If not blinking try replacing with a spare or swapping out with another register Ethernet cable.
5.) After replacing Ethernet and still offline couple of options to try to determine if register or cabling issue
-a. Plug into a different known working network wall port if one close by
-b. Take the offline register to another station and plug into that station network wall port. Example if counter right offline bring register over to counter left and plug into counter left network wall port or vice versa bring a known online register and plug into the same network wall port where offline register plug into.
-c. Bring the offline register and plug directly into switch over at the back office where other registers are plug into. This way we are bypassing all the cabling through the walls and just doing a direct connection.
6.) If register does come online trying options above ^ then store will need to get a cable tech to come onsite to check out the network wall port offline register is plug into, check the cable that runs from the network wall port to the back office switch, replace cable that goes up into ceiling if not plug into wall network port, or determine ports on switch gone bad.
7.) If register still does not come online after trying all methods in step 5. and no lights register will need to be replaced and store will need to reach out to PAR.
