PAR Brink - Survey Suppression
Purpose:
Prior to the release of this feature, the survey invitation would print on all receipts. This included digital ordering receipts, for which the survey is offered via email, and receipts for orders where the survey BOGO was redeemed. We received wide reports of the discount being abused by some guests to receive a free Big Zax Snack with every order and it was requested that we find a way to target this survey to applicable orders only.
How it works:
PAR Brink is very limited in its ability to track discounts on open orders, so a custom button had to added that would allow us to track it another way. When going to apply the SMG BOGO BZS discount, do not use the "Discount" button below the order list as you would with any other discount. This discount should be applied at the end of the transaction using the "SMG BOGO BZS" button on the

Previously, the entree of one of the Big Zax Snack meals needed to be selected to apply this discount. The discount has been updated to automatically search for a BZS or buffalo BZS on the order and discount the first one it finds. Once on this screen, simply press the SMG BOGO BZS button and the discount should be applied to the correct item.

After pressing the button, your screen should look like the image above. The SMG BOGO BZS discount is applied and an item named "SMG_BOGO" is added to the order. This item is part of the tracking workaround. If this item is not ordered when the button is pressed, the survey may not be successfully suppressed. If you get an error message stating that the item or discount is not available, verify that the SMG BOGO BZS button and SMG_BOGO item are active in the portal.
When the order is closed, a script will be called that checks the order for the "SMG_BOGO" item. If the item is present (discount applied), the order is closed and the survey does not print. If the item is not present, the script will order the trigger item for the survey, called "SurveyItem," and the survey will be printed.

Defect preventing orders where payments were taken on a tablet was resolved 4/30/2024. Tracked as PRB-151 and released as CHN-289.
Change notes: Was not calling script when order closed from PAY/Close Order button and not payment screen. Updated scripts for PAY/Close and added conditions to SMG check to resolve.
FAQ:
Are surveys supposed to print for online orders? No, surveys for digital orders are offered via email.
Should the survey print for all in-store and drive-thru orders without the discount? The survey will only print for orders with a subtotal of $5 or more.
